This Privacy Policy explains how RenterWatch ("RenterWatch," "we," "us") collects, uses and shares information through renterwatch.com and app.renterwatch.com (the "Service"). RenterWatch is a service for landlords, property owners and property managers.
1. Information we collect
Account and business information: when a landlord or property manager applies, we collect their name, company name, email address, phone number, IRS EIN letter and other details needed to verify the business, plus the properties, unit counts and property managers they list.
Tenant history information: verified landlords may post information about current or former tenants, such as name, date of birth, contact details, lease dates, rent and payment history, ratings, comments, damage reports, photos, invoices and court records.
Contact form messages: when you use our contact form we receive your name, email address, message and any files you attach.
Usage information: we record searches, record views and unlocks for billing, security and audit purposes, and collect standard log data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited. Our website uses cookies to analyze traffic and improve the site.
2. How we use information
We use information to verify businesses, operate and secure the Service, show tenant history reports to verified landlords and property managers, bill accounts, respond to questions, prevent misuse and comply with the law. We do not sell personal information.
3. Who can see tenant information
Tenant history reports are available only to approved landlords and property managers who have agreed to our Terms and Conditions and may use the Service only to evaluate rental applicants and manage their own rental relationships. Every search and record view is logged.
4. How we share information
We share information with service providers that host and operate the Service (such as hosting, database, file storage and email providers), with verified users as described above, when required by law or legal process, and to protect the rights and safety of RenterWatch, our users and others.
5. Data security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls and private file storage. We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service, meet legal and billing obligations and resolve disputes.
6. Requests from tenants and other individuals
If you believe information about you on RenterWatch is inaccurate or incomplete, or you want to ask what information we hold about you, email support@renterwatch.com. We will review your request, may ask you to verify your identity, and will correct or remove information that is inaccurate or cannot be verified. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws.
7. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
